Adrián Díaz Martínez was born in 1991 and began his musical education in San Lorenzo de El Escorial Madrid at the age of eight. After being given the opportunity to join the wind band at his hometown, at the age of 13, he was admitted to the Youth Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, where his dream of becoming a professional musician began to emerge. At the age of 16, he began his international career participating in youth orchestras, such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Gustav-Mahler Orchestra, where he had the pleasure of accompanying his later teacher. After having been in these orchestras of European and intercontinental character, Adrian could not resist the opportunity to meet and participate in the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE), of which he was also a member in 2013. He studied in Berlin with Professor Marie-Luise Neunecker at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler”. Adrian is currently pursuing his doctoral studies (Dr. sc. mus.) on the topic “The history of the origin and interpretation of Richard Strauss’ second horn concerto” at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. After playing in the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchester from 2010 to 2013, the young horn player has been a member of the NDR-Elbphilharmonie Orchester since 2014. As of 2019, he is a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and a regular guest of other orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Tonhalle Zürich or the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Furthermore, he has been a member of the Capella Andrea Barca ensemble since 2012. In this capacity, he performs chamber music and chamber orchestra works with the renowned pianist Andras Schiff. Being one of the most demanded horn players of his generation, the Spanish musician also participates in renowned chamber music festivals in Europe and Asia. Adrián has been receiving awards throughout the world, including the Citta de Porcia in Italy and the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg. He frequently performs as a soloist in Europe, Asia, and South America. In 2018, together with the pianist Ikuko Odai, he released his first CD with chamber music repertoire from the 20th century. The duo performs in concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie, the Fundación Juan March in Madrid or the wonderful Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona. In 2022 the young Spaniard published his second album “Manu Scriptum” together with Ikuko Odai.
Being a pedagogue, Adrian had his first teaching experience as a mentor at the academy of the NDR – Elbphilharmonie Orchester. Soon after that, he began teaching horn at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, where he taught from 2016 to 2021. In addition, he has given masterclasses and lectures at other universities and institutions in Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Estonia, Brazil and Korea, among others.
Since 2021 Adrián Díaz Martínez is appointed as professor for French Horn at the Musikhochschule Lübeck.
