Shirley Salmon

Studied music (BA Hons. York University, England) and studied to be a kindergarten and primary school teacher at the Froebel Institute, London (PGCE) and obtained master’s degree in educational science (MPhil., University of Innsbruck, Austria). She has worked with infants, children, teenagers and adults without and with disabilities (including deaf and hard-of-hearing, emotionally disturbed children and adults with severe disabilities) in different contexts e.g. in kindergartens, schools, projects, sheltered workshops, residential homes for over 40 years. She taught at the teacher training universities in Graz, Austria, has been a lecturer at the Orff-Institute, Mozarteum University Salzburg in the area of “Music and Dance in the Community and in Integrative Pedagogy” since 1984 and is also director of the postgraduate course “Advanced Studies in Music and Dance Education – Orff-Schulwerk”. She teaches and lectures nationally and internationally and has published books and numerous articles in journals.
