Announcement

 

 

1. GENERAL RULES

 

1.1 The competition is open to opera singers of all voice categories and every Nationality. The maximum age is 35 years old (born after 1987). Competitors do not have to be winners of previous editions of the same Competition.

 

1.2 - To take part to the Competition it is necessary to fill out the application for participation in the Competition according to the attached sample. The application form must be sent via e-mail to the following e-mail address:
rubini@rubinifestival.eu.
 

1.3 - The following documents must accompany the registration application:
 

·       a copy of payment of the registration fee in the amount of € 70.00 – which includes the option of using the services of a piano player provided by the competition organisers – to be paid through a bank and made payable to:

·       copy of a valid identity card or passport;

 
·       short curriculum vitae of the candidate (not exceeding 20 lines);

 

 

1.4 – The application must include:

 

·       The youtube link uploaded in “unlisted” mode of an audio-video file made according to the specifications in article 2.2 CONTEST RULES – PRESELECTION (remote).

 

Deadline for registration and receipt of all documentation is Sunday, 7 August 2022.

 

1.5 - Applications that are incomplete and sent after the cut-off date will not be given consideration and the registration fee will not be reimbursed.

 

 

2. COMPETITION RULES

 

2.1 - The competition will consist of two stages: remote pre-selection and in-person final.

 

2.2 - PRE-SELECTION (remote)

 

·       Applicants must produce an audio video recording, in a single file (separate files will not be accepted), containing a recording of three arias, all in the composer’s key and in the original language, of which two in Italian, one in another language, composed after 1750.

The arias must be sung by heart.

The recordings of a very good quality (especially the audio) must be uploaded on youtube in “unlisted” mode for better evaluation by the committee.

The link to the registration must be indicated in the competition application.

 

·       The pre-selection will be carried out remotely by each member of the committee on the bases of the videos of each competitor by 22 August 2022.

 

·       A maximum of ten competitors will be admitted to the grand finale.

 

2.3 - FINAL ROUND (open to the public)

 

·       The competition will take place in the Fondazione theatre OO. PP. Rubini, via Comelli Rubini in Romano di Lombardia, on Saturday, 3 September 2022 at 17:00.

 

·       The singers qualified for the final round will sing:

-        an aria selected by the jury from among the three performed in the video and submitted for pre-selection. The title of the aria will be communicated to the contestants by 10 a.m. on Friday, 2 September 2022.

-        an aria of his/her choice from among the three performed in the video and submitted for pre-selection.  

The performance will be delivered by heart.

·       Each contestant will have the opportunity to attend the grand finale accompanied by his/her pianist or by an official competition pianist (the request for an official competition pianist must be included on the application form as described in para 1.3).

 

·       The winners of the competition will perform in a public concert as part of the Rubini Festival 2022 programme on Saturday, 4 September at 18:00 in the Fondazione theatre OO. PP. Rubini.

During the concert they will perform two arias of their choice previously recorded for the pre-selection.

Collection of the prize is conditional upon participation in the concert.

3.2 – The jury has the right to give one or more joint prizes (i.e., sharing the prize between two competitors, half to each competitor) or not to award a prize. It may also award one or more special prizes.

 

3.3 - If a member of the jury is, or has been the teacher of one of the contestants, or has had a professional relationship with them that might affect his or her impartiality, he or she must declare this before the pre-selection and must leave the jury table during the performance in the presence of the competitor.

The competitor must accept in writing that he/she will be evaluated by a jury with one missing jury member.

 

3.4 - The decision of the jury is incontestable.

 

 

4. AWARDS

 

·       I official: certificate of attendance and monetary award of 5.000 euro

·       II official: certificate of attendance and monetary award of 3.000 euro

·       III official: certificate of attendance and monetary award of 2.000 euro

NB: Prizes are inclusive of taxes

 

4.1 - Special awards

The Rubini Competition involves the winners in concert activities and is organized for the purpose of introducing the winning voices to the public and the press.

 

·       Plaque in memory of “Tarcisio Servidati” awarded by the audience present at the event.

·       Prize Concert at Villa Puccini in Torre del Lago as part of the artistic activities organised by the Fondazione Simonetta Puccini for Giacomo Puccini in summer 2023

·       Prize Concert at the Rubini Festival 2023

·       Free use for one year of OperaClick’s Artisti in evidenza (Featured Artists) Service, offered by the Editor-in-Chief, Danilo Boaretto.

 

4.2 - Monetary awards may only be collected if the winner is subject to taxation in our country i.e., he/she must be in possession of an Italian tax identification number.

 

 

5. LAST REGULATIONS
 

5.1 - By signing the registration form the candidate automatically accepts the rules of the competition.

 

5.2 - In accordance with Law 196/2003, registration for the competition authorizes the use of personal data for communication purposes. Registration also includes giving authorization for any audio and video recordings for broadcasting by public or private radio/television organisations or for documentation and archive purposes only.

 

5.3 - It is up to the committee to take decisions on matters not stipulated in this notice.

 

5.4 - Any dispute will be settled by the Court of Bergamo.
